Lava stone can boast a tradition of usage in Historical Villas and gardens, where dry stone walls, fountains, stone paths and other ornaments, nowadays uncommon, are highly regarded.
On other side, lava stone is certainly of interest in modern architectural projects, in decorating public spaces, squares and porticos in a modern style.

In South of Italy lava stone has been used for Centuries, adding elegance and style to villas, and nowadays Ranieri Pietra Lavica stone masons are skilled to renew this traditional Italian Style for outdoor environements projects.
In the example we applied the highest quality sophisticated but sober products for a perfect outdoor of historical Villa.

In this project of historical center restoration, Ranieri Lava Stone used a hand-made rockface ‘basolo’ for the square pavement, with a decorative alternate use of lava stone and Trani stone.
During the medieval centuries, this combined use inspired federician Greek fret with its contrasting black and white:

Rock-face lava stone can be used for building fireplaces, block stairs, claddings, kerbs, portals, wall-caps, thresholds… it’s main use in history has been outdoor floorings:

Lava stone apart from its use in restoration of historic centers is certainly of interest in modern architectural projects, in decorating public spaces, squares and porticos in a modern style.
