Ranieri’s Odissea: The New Collection

Ranieri’s new conception of lava, with techniques, cuts, and designs conceived to highlight its distinctive characteristics, is guided by Giovanni Ranieri, the company’s leader and descendent of generations of lava stone specialists, in collaboration with the Milan architects Francesco Meda and David Lopez Quincoces as the company’s artistic directors.

Ranieri’s new Odissea collection, designed by Meda and Lopez Quincoces, renders tiles, flooring, and wall-claddings in flat and sculptural three-dimensional versions that highlight the fusion of minerals and magma of lava, with grooved tiles and hand-chipped surfaces that reveal flashes of mica and hollow crannies, all of which can be combined for an endless variety of possibilities. A versatile palette of colors composed for the collection highlights the chromatic plays possible only with lava, with innovative sheer glazes and craquelé finishes accentuating the flecked and dappled surface of the stone.

The Odissea collection combines geometries and volumes to create a play of shapes that bring surfaces to life in vibrant colors. Dramatic cuts explore convex and concave possibilities; elongated bars and oversized blocks reimagine ways to build surfaces in tile. The full range of Odissea tiles and flooring can be crafted with Ranieri’s distinctive surfaces and are available in all finishes from Bare Stone to Translucent Color to Deep Color.

Artisan-crafted at our Vesuvius workshop, the collection designed for a new era of lava introduces a gamut of choices that only Ranieri is capable of creating — a reflection of its philosophy that celebrates the natural essence of volcanic stone.
